Day of Smiles
Being a Neighbor and Creating Smiles: Our 8th Annual Day of Smiles
Hospitality comes naturally to our team members, who extend it every day at our restaurant and Parkhurst locations, and to our communities when they have the chance. At this year’s “Day of Smiles” volunteer day of action in Pittsburgh, PA, over 100 of our team members volunteered at eight different project locations!
From helping to support refugee parents and their newborns at Hello Neighbor, to sorting food for distribution to those in need at the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, to assembling back-to-school kits at Best of the Batch Foundation, we were honored to work alongside nonprofit organizations who are making a difference for our neighbors.
Our awesome team members rolled up their sleeves and gave their time in the spirit of care and hospitality! Here are the words of just a few of our volunteers:
“I love our Day of Smiles! It is an awesome day that we spend living our purpose – to create a smile - outside of our restaurants and making an impact in the communities we serve. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to build a playground, pack boxes at the food bank, and help at Best of the Batch! It is truly a day that makes me proud to work for Eat’n Park Hospitality Group.”
“I was grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community during Day of Smiles. We put our food expertise to work, making lunch for the women and children being served by that organization.”
“Every year I look forward to Day of Smiles. This year, we packed over 1000 boxes of food items for senior citizens. It's very gratifying to contribute to the wellbeing of vulnerable members of our society by helping them to put food on their tables.”
“We have so many vulnerable neighbors whose basic needs aren't even met. Day of Smiles is great opportunity to learn about the real challenges our neighbors are facing and the good work that is being done to help, and even be inspired to get involved in those efforts beyond of Day of Smiles!”
“It gives me a good feeling to know that we are helping others in need and that we are doing it as a team. And it was really actually FUN! There was not one frown in the crowd. It was truly a Day of Smiles.”
